Copernicus Roadshow - Eyes on Earth

June 12, 2019 / Nelson Felipe Rincon Soto

On the 12th and 13th of June, 2019, a delegation of M.Sc. WASTE students from Generations 2016, 2017 and 2018, attended the "Eyes on Earth Roadshow". It was a great opportunity for them to gain some insights into atmospheric observations of the earth.

The Copernicus ‘Eyes on Earth’ Roadshow (EASME and DG GROW initiative) will foster the development of applications with space data and other geo-information systems. It is part of the digital skills agenda for Europe and to promote awareness and use of Copernicus Earth observation data. The roadshows are to develop technical and scientific skills needed to work in the space data sector and encourage citizens’ interest in earth observation activities.

This will be done through a series of five highly interactive events in five different EU Member States from June 2019 to March 2020. We will do this using a masterclass developed by the Netherlands Earth Observation Cluster.

The events, which include an expo area with interactive tools, business presentations, interactive masterclasses dedicated to real business cases (e.g. how to deal with heat islands in cities), and network/matchmaking sessions, will provide a multitude of benefits to participants of all ages and all walks of life, both expert and non-expert audience. Participation in all Roadshow events is free of charge.

• INSPIRE others to follow Copernicus’ work more closely;
• EXPLORE the skills needed for a Space Data career;
• ACT to preserve our Planet.
